Mercedes-Benz Transmission Oil Cooler Overview:

Functionality:

The transmission oil cooler helps to cool down the transmission fluid after it has heated up due to friction and heat within the transmission.

Location:

It’s generally located in front of the radiator and looks like a smaller version of a radiator or sometimes as a coil or tube-style cooler.

Types:

There are two main types of transmission oil coolers:

Tube and Fin Coolers:

These are made by winding thin tubes into a circular or oval shape with fins attached. They’re generally less efficient but also less expensive.

Plate and Fin Coolers:

These are more efficient and use plates instead of tubes. They are more expensive but offer better cooling.

Connection:

The cooler is connected to the transmission using lines that carry the transmission fluid to and from the cooler.
